ACCREDITATION AND RANKING

The Australian education system is highly regarded internationally. University entry is extremely competitive and academic standards are high. The University is on the Australian Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) and must comply with a National Code of Practice. The Code sets strict requirements for all CRICOS-registered providers, programs and courses.


Universities are accredited with, and closely monitored by, the Australian Government, which has a strong commitment to the provision of quality higher education.


All Australian Universities are evaluated by the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA). AUQA reports directly to the Commonwealth Government on its findings.




In AUQA’s 2002 Report on USQ the following was stated:

• Internationally, USQ is a leader in developing innovative program delivery while at the same time maintaining a strong commitment to educational quality... The stance USQ has taken in not compromising standards while developing new markets bodes well for the future

• Teaching and learning is the area where USQ is making a strong contribution... and where it is at the forefront in developing and applying new technologies

• USQ is a... University that is making significant contributions in terms of the student’s and communities
it serves, as well as to the future direction of Australian higher education

• The staff are strongly committed to students and to the University’s strategic directions.

As a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and UNESCO’s International Association of Universities (lAU), USQ degrees are recognised around the world. ACU membership comprises more than 480 universities drawn from Commonwealth countries. These institutions come together under the umbrella of the ACU to build on their historical links, shared traditions and common purposes in order to further international understanding and collaboration.


There is no official ranking of Australian universities; however, independent surveys show that USQ students have a very high overall satisfaction rate with the standard of programs and support offered to them.
